Introduction to the Major Pentatonic Scale Using the CAGED System on Guitar

Taught by: Quintin Louw

Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced

In this lesson we are going to learn the 5 Major pentatonic scale shapes simply by adding 2 notes to the major triad chord shapes we learned in the first lesson.

Introduction

Each one of the the major triad chords were built off of the 1,3,5. In D the 1 is D the 3 is F# and the 5 is A.The major pentatonic is made by adding 2 more notes and we end up with a formula 12356. This lesson shows how the shapes are created in this way and how to piece them together along the guitar fret board.
