Important Changes
On July 15, 2020, YouTube suspended our access to the YouTube Data API due to non-compliance with their terms of service. We believe this was an unjust decision that prevents YouTube for Musicians from working correctly. We strongly disagree with their assessment and are hoping to restore full functionality to this popular resource.
What Has Changed?
Searching no longer works but you can enter YouTube video link in the search box to load a YouTube video in order to use our video player controls with a looper.
You cannot currently save videos to your favorites, or create new playlists.
You should still be able to access your saved videos and your loops, but the titles and descriptions may not be visible until after you load the videos.
Why Are We Out of Compliance?
According to YouTube, we are out of compliance for two reasons:
- Our player controls, including the loop control, violate the "look and feel" of the YouTube player, even though we also include the native YouTube player controls.
- Our search feature is too similar to searching on YouTube.com, even though the YouTube Data API allows searching for videos.
We hope to find a resolution for these issues by seeking guidance from YouTube, but we have not been able to get in touch with YouTube who can help. Can you help? Do you have any comments or questions? Please email support@musiclessons.com
