Michael graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2012 where he discovered his passion for the natural trumpet. He then moved to the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where he completed his Master of Music degree specialising in historical performance. During his time in Wales, Michael performed with musicians including trumpeters; John Wallace, John Miller, Neil Brough, Ross Brown and David Blackadder. He also had the privilege of performing alongside violinist Simon Jones and Soprano Elin Manahan Thomas.

On the cornett Michael worked closely with Jeremy West. His cornett and sackbutt ensemble regularly travelled to Cambridge to perform in many of the colleges there, Including the King’s College Chapel.
