I'm a bass and guitar instructor with over 4 years of teaching experience spanning a variety of genres, experience levels, and ages. All my new lessons are over video chat

I started guitar lessons at age 7 and upright bass lessons at age 9, and have been focusing on jazz bass (both electric and upright) for the past 6 years. I have experience in jazz groups, rock bands, orchestras, and practically every other sort of ensemble open to a bassist or guitarist. At Skidmore College, I am the only bassist to play in 2 jazz ensembles, and on the weekends I play in clubs with my rock band, as well as subbing into several other groups.

I have loved taking lessons over the years but I've seen firsthand that many professional teachers are more musicians than teachers. In my experience the more effective teacher is the one that is patient, caters to your interests, and can empathize with your shortcomings, not the one that has been playing pro for decades and can't remember being a beginner. I haven't been playing or teaching for as long as many other teachers on this site, but I have plenty of expertise and I think my interpersonal skills more than make up the difference. If you're interested in getting some budget-friendly lessons please feel free to book a trial lesson.

Whether you want a serious crash course in music theory, or just want to learn to jam on your favorite songs, I can help. If you have any questions please feel free to shoot me a message! The student's interests come first, but I recommend a practical and well rounded curriculum. That means understanding the fretboard, getting comfortable reading charts and tabs online, learning major and minor scales, and getting a foundation of ear training so you can correct yourself as you go.
