The new year is a time when I usually evaluate the previous year and ask,"Have I Improved in all facets of my life?" Being a musician/educator can lead to a variety of possibilities to improve or fall below your projected path so the answer may not always be clear. However, having no expectation will undoubtedly take you no where.

"Music is an art, a way of expression. Each person has a concept of what success means."

This is understandable to some extent, but not a well reasoned argument to why we as musicians feel a lack of growth in all facets of our career. We have to have a standard, a metric in which to evaluate our progress or lack thereof.

Let us push to better ourselves to become the best musicians, artists, and individuals that we can be. Have an expectation!
