James Knabe performs across the USA as a trumpeter and conducts master classes and teaches lessons privately both in-person and through his online Skype trumpet studio.  He has a unique niche and perspective and has worked with hundreds of students of all ages to bring them to a new level of musical success.  He has created unique methods to teaching art and craft of practice, best practices for sightreading, and learning expressive musicality.

James earned his Master of Music from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA and his Bachelor of Music from the School of the Arts at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA.

His primary teachers include the retired Principal Trumpet of the Boston Symphony Charles Schlueter as well as Peter Chapman (BSO) and David Greenhoe (Quad City Symphony and Lake Placid Sinfonietta).

James travels extensively and may be available to teach you in-person as his travel schedule allows.  He also maintains a Skype trumpet lesson studio for the majority of his students.
