Hi,

Just joined the site. I'm trying to learn everything I can about playing like Jerry Garcia (and anyone associated...Bob Weir, Steve Kimock, Jimmy Herring etc..etc...)

I've found some good vids on you tube, but not enough quality ones.

Any ideas for good sources for lessons, how to get those tones ect?

  • Wow... there is surprisingly little information out there for this subject! I'll keep looking, but the stuff I found on YouTube sucks! I admit that I didn't poke around a lot, but I expected to find a lot of videos and information quickly.JP 2013-09-10T06:38:38.0Z

Check out RUKind.com. There's a whole forum on Grateful Dead songs, and while you might have to spend some time looking through the forum, there's definitely some good info to be had there, especially concerning guitar tone and gear. Also, a fellow named Seth Fleischman has a site called GratefulGuitarLessons.com, and you can purchase lessons on either the Jerry or Bob parts of specific songs, and his videos are pretty straightforward and usually include tabs and backing tracks. Lastly, I myself am putting together a video on the China Cat Sunflower solo parts, so look for that on this site in the next week or so. I'll post a link in this thread.

A wonderful Acapella Tribute to Bob Marley - Could You Be Loved

What an amazing to watch, beautiful tribute to Bob! This awesome a capella version of Bob Marley's 'Could You Be Loved' was made by Israeli musicians in honor of what would have been the late Marley's 70th Birthday. - Open Video
