I don't really know if there is one solid definition of a blue note, but when talking about blue notes people are usually referring to one of two things. The first would be microtones. Often in the blues, horn players and guitar players will play a note somewhere between a flat third and a major third by bending a note.  Sort of an intentional "out of tune" note, that would typically resolve or at least move toward the major 3rd. The other definition that I imagine a piano player might tend to favor, is the flat 3rd and flat 5th, and maybe the flat 7th in a major key context.
