Dr. Valerie Missick is a highly experienced music educator, vocal coach, and performer with a lifelong passion for developing musicians of all ages and ability levels. As the owner and operator of Music Speaks Studios, she provides high-quality instruction in piano and keyboard, as well as vocal performance, in a supportive, engaging, and student-centered environment.

Dr. Missick holds a Doctor of Music Education (DME) from Liberty University, along with a Bachelor of Music from the University of Miami Frost School of Music, a Master’s degree from the University of West Georgia, and a Specialist degree from Augusta University. She is also a certified educator in the Douglas County School District, where she continues to inspire students through her work in music education.

With over 25 years of experience teaching music in public schools and more than 20 years of private instruction, Dr. Missick brings a wealth of knowledge and real-world expertise to every lesson. Her background spans multiple genres, including jazz, R&B, gospel, musical theater, pop, and classical, allowing her to tailor instruction to each student’s interests and goals.

As an accomplished vocalist and musician, Dr. Missick focuses on building strong technique, confidence, and artistry while maintaining a relaxed, encouraging, and stress-free learning environment. Her students have gone on to earn scholarships, perform professionally, and pursue advanced studies in music.

Beyond the studio, Dr. Missick is deeply committed to youth development. She actively coaches and mentors students in athletics, including track and field, cross-country, and swimming, reinforcing her belief in developing the whole student—both artistically and personally.
