About Joni Clare:

Joni Clare is a vocal coach, performing vocalist and keyboardist, blending original soul, classical voice, and improvisation. She has a Bachelor's degree in music and seven years of performing experience. She also studies conscious control and physical misuse patterns currently in a teacher-training program at the Oregon Center of the Alexander Technique.

Her early singing and performances took place in church, home and school. She developed a passion and meaning for music singing with her mom and dad in many positive, loving communities that she remains grateful for today. She took every opportunity to sing solos and lead characters in show choir, musical productions, class choir, and solo and ensemble events. It is very clear that early on, Clare carried strong ambition and no fear to sing out and these characteristics are still streaming in her performances and teaching practice today.

Clare began performing professionally before college, back-up singing with Soup, a funk-rock band recording vocals for two of Fable and the World Flat’s albums, The Great Attractor and Dark Flow. She began writing music in 2011 and released her first solo album, Dividing Silence in 2012. Soon after she started performing out in the Milwaukee culture at Gallery Nights, The Pfister Hotel, Art Milwaukee events, Milwaukee Jewish Museum, public venues, community farmers’ markets, and private weddings.

She wrote another EP Harvest (2015) at the art-in-residency program, Wormfarm Institute, in Reedsburg, Wisconsin. She has recorded vocals in many collaborative projects, one being In The Waking Hour (2016) and has been an active member of the improvising communities. Most of Clare’s music is now with her band which released The City Pines in 2015 and they are currently performing in Portland, Oregon.
