Inspiration from the Life of Michael Jackson

 

Born on 29 August 1958, Michael Jackson was the eighth child in the Jackson Family. In 1964, he made his singing debut as part of the Jackson 5. He was six years old at the time. In 1971, Michael went solo releasing several albums throughout his career. They included Thriller in 1982, Bad in 1987, Dangerous in 1991, History in 1995, and Invincible in 2001. Thriller became the best-selling album in history. Overall, Michael sold more than 350 million records during his lifetime. Here are some interesting facts about Michael and his legacy.

 

Michael Jackson Was Deeply Troubled

Michael died on 25 June 2009 after his physician gave him an excess amount of a sleeping drug known as Propofol. This unfortunate event shows that Michael had trouble sleeping. It is important to note that Michael had other issues apart from sleeping problems. For example, Michael expressed a childlike demeanor even though he was an adult.

Michael often talked about his upbringing as the cause of his problems. For example, he once told a reporter that his father would sit in a chair holding a belt as the Jackson 5 rehearsed. He added that his father would beat them thoroughly with the belt if they made any mistake during these rehearsals.

 

Michael Jackson Was Kind and Compassionate

Michael supported more charities than any other entertainer in the world did according to the Guinness Book of Records. You should note that his philanthropic work started in the early 1980s. In 1983, he donated $1.5 million to a medical center in Los Angeles, California. In 1984, he donated his share of proceeds from the Victory Tour to various charities. That donation amounted to over $3 million. Moreover, he co-wrote a song with Lionel Richie in 1985 that earned $65 million for charities fighting hunger in Africa.

Michael suffered from mental, psychological, and physical problems, but he turned his issues into successes. More specifically, he became one of the most successful artists in history despite his deep-rooted problems. Moreover, Michael’s heartache made him aware of global suffering. He knew that his talent could help alleviate some of this suffering. Consequently, he wrote songs to uplift the human heart and he donated great sums to various charities.
