Research of the Violin and its Journey with Time

Music surpasses all boundaries of time and place. Music is an ever flowing element that successfully crosses all barriers of time and place and reaches the hearts and souls of individuals. This is because the music of the instrument sounds extremely warm, pleasing and filling. The violin is played globally by violinists in all sorts of musical performances and concerts. A violin is a stringed instrument that contains four strings which are tuned in perfect fifths. It is played with a bow that consists of a stick with a ribbon made of horse hair that is strung between both the ends. The violin or the fiddle is played by drawing the bow across the strings with one hand and plucking the frets with the contrary. This is the most generalized way of playing the instrument though there are some other techniques as well. The player of the violin is termed as a violinist or a fiddler. The violin, being the smallest member of the family of stringed instruments, has the highest pitch of all. The other member of the family of stringed instruments to which the violin belongs includes the viola, the double bass, and the cello.

The instrument, in its initial form, was found in Italy in the 16th century. With further modifications and alterations, the instrument was found in the 17th and the 18th centuries. Ever since then the instrument has undergone several transformations in its structure to come up with this form that exists today. The body of the violin is made from different forms of wood, and the strings are made of synthetic or steel material. The bow of the instrument looks somewhat like a hockey stick, with a thin wooden plank used on one end and a horsehair ribbon on the other end (that is strung on both ends between the tip as well as the frog). The violin and its bow are very fragile and require proper maintenance by the player for quality sound production and longevity.

The facts about the violin, its composition, and its journey through the phases of time are enlightening no doubt.
