Woodwind artist Julie P. is a New York City freelancer and teacher. Julie became a multi-instrumentalist at an early age and now enjoys playing oboe, saxophone, flute and clarinet in her work on Broadway and other concerts and productions in the NYC area. Julie has played in over 30 musical theater productions, as well as with the Songwriter’s Orchestra and the Philadelphia Orchestra Society. She is an active chamber musician and currently plays with the Hudson Winds Woodwind Quartet. 

Julie has a MM in Music Performance from New Jersey City University where she studied in the multiple woodwinds program with Ed Joffe and Rick Heckman, and a BM in Music Education from Ithaca College where she studied clarinet with Michael Galvan. She is dedicated to continuously developing her skills and currently studies oboe and reed-making with Rick Heckman, and saxophone with Lawrence Feldman. 

As a teacher, Julie has worked with over 100 private students. She enjoys teaching young and advancing woodwind players, helping them discover the wide range of musical styles and sounds accessible by the woodwind instruments. In addition to teaching skills inherent to woodwind playing, Julie uses her background in piano and music theory to give her students a strong foundation in musicianship skills.
