There Is No Balance

2017-06-19T22:54:00.0Z

Work-life balance does not exist, at least not for me. Music, whether practicing, listening, or composing is always present. There is no off switch. Perhaps if I would consider pursuing music as a hobby then I could create divisions that are so commonly referred to in the nine to five world. However, being that music is a constant in my life, this option does not exist.
My days are spent with my son and music. My evenings are spent teaching and my nights give way to some time with my wife. The weekends are a mixture of performing and family time. At any given point I am still very aware that I must continue to find more gigs at familiar venues as well as new venues. This is never ending.
There is no balance, just one evolving journey driven by the many facets of a musician as life.
