When I think back to the beginnings of my musical journey the first word that comes to mind in repetition. I came to the conclusion that it did not matter if I had a "talent" for music or not, I was stubborn and wouldn't let that stop me from playing the guitar. My main premise was that if I repeated anything that was difficult enough times then I would eventually dominate that particular inadequacy.
This idea of repetition is what I truly believe to be a defining characteristic in my development and what gave me the confidence to pursue the journey further.
